Information on the processing of collected data

Cookies

When accessing individual web pages, so-called session cookies are used to facilitate navigation. Cookies are small text files that are stored locally in the cache of the visitor’s internet browser. These session cookies do not contain any personal data and expire at the end of a session or upon finalisation of a user query. In case cookies are deactivated via your browser settings, it is possible that you may not be able to access all functions of this website.

Recipients of personal data
•    Your data will not be transmitted to third parties.

•    Your data will not be transmitted to third countries.

User analysis
This site uses an On-Premise version of Matomo to analyse user behaviour. Cookies collect information about user behaviour on the site, including the abbreviated IP address of the device being used, and send it to the server. The server anonymises the information and stores it for the purpose of analysing user behaviour. The state of current technology ensures that once information has been anonymised, it can no longer be traced back to the originating device or connection. Information produced by cookies is shared only with the internally operated server. It is never shared with third parties. Data is processed on the basis of Article 6 (1e) of the GDPR for the purpose of pursuing the controller’s legitimate interests, in this case to improve the website. Upon accessing this site, you are being asked to agree to the processing and storage of the completely anonymised data resulting from your visit. If you choose to object to the processing of your user data, no data is being collected, stored or analysed.

In detail, the following user data is being stored:

• technical data of the browser being used.
• anonymised IP address,
• date and time,
• site name/name of the file accessed,
• data volume retrieved,
• notice on whether the access was successful.

Duration of data storage
User data will not be stored for longer than is necessary for the purpose for which it is gathered or as required by law.

Plugins

Twitter Feed

On this webpage, a hidden feed of our Twitter channel is integrated. The feed will only be displayed after you have given consent to comply with Twitter’s privacy policy. Prior to your active consent, no data will be transmitted to Twitter.

You can find further information in the privacy notice of Twitter. You can change your privacy settings in the account settings of your Twitter profile.

Data is processed on the basis of Article 6 (1a) of the GDPR. Only after your active consent, “tweets” will be displayed.

YouTube: Enhanced data protection

On this webpage, videos hosted on Youtube are integrated. The videos will only be displayed after you have given consent to comply with Youtube’s privacy policy. Prior to your active consent, no data will be transmitted to Youtube.

We use YouTube’s enhanced privacy mode. According to YouTube, no information about the visitor is stored before they watch the video. However, the enhanced privacy mode does not necessarily preclude the sharing of information with Youtube partners. For instance, Youtube connects to the Google DoubleClick network regardless of whether visitors watch a video.

For this reason, we have implemented a two-click solution on our webpage, which informs users that data may be transferred to Youtube once the embedded content is being activated. The user has to actively agree so that the content is being displayed, and a possible data transfer starts.

You can find further information about Youtube’s privacy policy here.

Data is processed on the basis of Article 6 (1a) of the GDPR.

Information on user rights
You have the right to
•    object to the processing of your personal data.

•    enquire about the personal data collected, as well as their processing,

•    to have them corrected, if necessary, or to demand the restriction of processing or the deletion of such data.

If you have any questions or complaints about this webpage, you can contact the GIZ’s data protection officer via datenschutzbeauftragter@giz.de or the entity responsible for data processing via gpdpd@giz.de. Users may also lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority in this case is the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI).
